Interesting one! Both are in Sardinia (Italy) but Cagliari's altitude is 4m and Fonni's is 1029m. I would opt for Cagliari, which also has the sea, but Fonni has skiing stations just next to it and the summers are still nice and the winters bareable.

I dislike both, but Fonni is cooler in summer.
Cagliari: D (the only positive thing is sunny winter)
Fonni: D+ (cooler is better)

The Climate data for Cagliari does look wrong. Have you been changing these Climate Tables?

This would be the correct data.

Mmm I don’t know about it, it was the same data also the last time I visited the Sardinia page, which was around last autumn. Perhaps the tables are from different meteorological stations? Anyways there is no much difference.

D-/D+ at best; both are too dry for my liking.

700 hours of sunshine is quite a bit of difference though. 2,700 hours seem more legit given the area (it would still be among the sunniest areas in the country).

Also compare May of one and April of the other. Same. Looks vandalized.

You are right! I didn't notice the sunshine! 3,400 seems a lot and 2700 too low

Well I think Rome is around 2400 hours, so 2700 would make perfect sense. We're at around 2000 hours here up north.

The high sunshine hours for Fonni look suspicious to me.

Anyway I'd go with Cagliari.

Fonni easily - the endless heat and blazing sunshine of Cagliari would get very draining.
