Not sure if it means anything at all but it's surprisingly easy to find open-source photos of Wuhan in the winter.

It's much harder to find them for San Francisco. For all I know this could be the middle of summer except the road looks wet. What's up with the guy walking next to the cable car?

San Francisco since they lack extreme cold during winter.

Wuhan fits the definition better, even if I prefer San Francisco's climate by far.

Wuhan for its long, hot humid summers (despite its cold winters). SF is like a perpetual spring. So it really pales in comparison.

I'm going with Wuhan. Let me explain.

If you change the question to "Which climate is more subtropical or tropical?", it would be San Francisco, as they can grow far more plant species and very rarely freeze. However, I cannot say San Francisco is more subtropical because even though it would be accurate to call a warm-end subtropical climate "more" subtropical than a colder middle one, San Francisco should be consider semi-tropical. And I do NOT equate semi-tropical with frost-free; rather, I equate it with climates that aren't tropical, but still have warm enough winter averages to support many less sensitive tropical plants (e.g. citrus, pineapple) and year-round tree growth.

It is for these reasons that I have not answered the poll.

Parameter: Wuhan vs San-Fransisco
Mean annual temperatures: 17,1°C vs 14,1°C.
Mean low-sun temperatures: 9,6°C vs 12,7°C.
3-3,1=-0,1°C.
So, San Fransisco is winner.

This is a tough one. Wuhan is humid mid subtropical while San Francisco is exceptionally mild coastal Mediterranean. It could really go either way between San Francisco's (much) higher hardiness zone and Wuhan being much warmer in spring, summer and autumn.

Nothing about San Francisco is remotely tropical nor semi tropical. SF doesn't even reach the Koppen tropical threshold in its warmest month. Would you call southern Ireland or Tasmania tropical (analagous climates to SF)? Of course not. SF has way more in common with London than it does with Singapore.

Singapore is a VERY exceptional tropical climate. It's almost on the Equator. Also, I did explain my reasoning about the year-round tree growth and ability for some less fragile tropical plants to survive.
