Wow Lake Charles will be seeing the brunt of Hurricane Laura. My dad still hasn't evacuated, he's still packing...
Needs to get out.
I'm beginning to think this will be a defining moment in the history of Lake Charles. It's not far from the Gulf at all. Lot of flooding and very strong winds.
Stifling start to the day with a low of just 75 F. We have had 23 days with lows above 70 F this year. That’s more like a summer in Philadelphia, and unusual for the southern end of Lake Huron.
Also, Laura battered Louisiana at 150 mph and still maintains hurricane status inland. I know we have a poster in Alexandria, and I hope he has evacuated.

I've had quite a few above 65F, but none above 70. Summer 2020 winding down, only 4 days until Meteorological Fall
Very hot today and likely another 90 degree temp tomorrow bringing the total at ORD to 31 for the season. Tomorrow might feature some severe weather here as a cold front comes through in the late aqfternoon or evening
Cooler and very pleasant this weekend. Very SoCal coast like. Some scattered storms return next week with temps in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees to start September and meteorological fall.
We certainly could use some rain here and in many other parts of the country aside for the Deep South which is getting slammed right now

He decided not to evacuate. He said that the forecast storm surge was absurb.
He was right, his house didn't flood, the storm surge was nowhere near what was predicted.
He currently doesn't have power but other than that he's fine.
Alexandria, Louisiana was getting 80 mph winds last I checked. Hopefully the damage there is minimal.
Fast moving strong hurricanes are the worst if you live inland. I know Albany Georgia had 80 mph winds from Michael despite being well inland from the gulf.
It's amazing how massive Hurricane Laura is. We have cloudy skies in Indianapolis and they are outer cloud bands from the hurricane still centered over northern Louisiana.
