Tucson, AZ: This high-elevation location has numerous art & craft fairs, cultural fairs and a lot of niche stores in a walkable downtown. It is known for attracting both snowbirds and creative types and for the Gem Fair. Weather here is dry but mild year round though on rare occasions it does get a dusting of snow in the winter or the odd burst of rain:

Valencia, Spain: Near the eastern coast of the Iberian Penninsula, Valencia has a subtropical Mediterranean climate. The city is known for its architecture and has multiple heritage sites. An annual tomato fight is also another tradition that draws tourists as is the food culture of the city.

Dhaka, Bangladesh: The capital city of Bangladesh and known for a mix of new buildings interspersed with preserved architecture. Numerous water channels run through the city and water buses are a popular way to get around. Also known for unique crafts and spicy cuisine. Dhaka has a tropical savanna climate with a definite monsoonal season which starts in spring.

Watertown, NY: Located at the eastern edge of Lake Ontario. Known for nearby Redfield, NY which gets 300" of snow a year. The Little Trees air fresheners are manufactured in Watertown, NY and the area has many natural waterfalls & streams. Watertown has a humid continental climate with mild springs though sometimes can bring surprise cold spells or surprise heat waves.

Dawson City: Located in the Yukon Territory, Dawson City has a dry-summer subarctic climate. Dawson city is known for gold prospecting and this is still an industry in the area. Tourism is a major industry and the city has a prestigious arts college. Spring here is cool and snow is light but common.

Valencia, the others are either too hot or too cold.

How does Valencia have such warm winters at 39 degrees North? How? How? How? How?

Tucson in May can be brutally hot and dry. We are less than a week before May, and the afternoon temperature today will be above 95F/35C. The forecast shows the first day of 100F/38C temps within a week. It usually cools off enough at night for the mornings to be pleasant, but after 9 am it warms up very fast. No arts and crafts fairs this spring due to Coronavirus. And worse, I am stuck here in the heat the next 4+ months instead of traveling to Germany, where I normally live from May to October.

I would rather be in Watertown, NY right about now.

I wouldn't say snow is common in Dawson in May. In fact, it snows a lot less there in May than it does in Calgary and I've never heard anyone describe May snow in Calgary as common (even though there are probably more Mays in Calgary with snow than without it's still considered "unusual").

Another factor people may take into consideration is length of day in May is far longer in Dawson than in the other locales. This is either a good thing or a bad thing depending upon your personal preferences.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I picked Dawson but now I might change to Watertown. They're both decent.

Dhaka is appalling. Yuck.

Hmmm...

My ideal: 79.2 / 62.2 F (26.2 / 16.8 C), 6.1" of precip on 15 days.
(Realistically, a high of 74-82 F / 23-28 C, low of 57-65 F / 14-18 C and 4-7" of precip on 12-16 days is the "ideal range")

Tucson: 91.6 / 60.5 F (33.1 / 15.8 C), 0.23" of precip on 2 days.
Valencia: 74.1 / 58.3 F (23.4 / 14.6 C), 1.5" of precip on 4 days.
Dhaka: 92.1 / 76.6 F (33.4 / 24.8 C), 10.96" of precip on 15 days.
Watertown: 66.4 / 46.6 F (19.1 / 8.1 C), 3.57" of precip on 13 days.
Dawson City: 59.9 / 33.6 F (15.5 / 0.9 C), 1.21" of precip on 11 days.

It's a tough call, but I'm going with Watertown on this one. It's the only one without a major problem; it's too cold, but only by a few degrees, and too dry, but just barely. Valencia's the best on temperatures, making the ideal range, but it's too dry. Another half-inch of precipitation on two extra days (2" on 6 days total) would have won it.

What do you mean moderation from Mediterranean?

Sea Coast Antalya has less moderation from Mediteranean by being at 36 degrees North.

Coldest month mean temp is 10°C
