Yes but any crop that grows in Alberta is likely to also be successful in much warmer climates too. E.g. wheat is also grown in Australia and South Africa in Mediterranean climates. Flax was grown in ancient Egypt. Rye is grown in Brazil. On the other hand many heat demanding crops are strictly limited to the tropics and some are pretty much equatorial-only.
