Planned to do the first 145km from Kalamunda to Albany Highway but realised we couldn't average 30km per day and there were no other roads for pickup points, still very happy to get out and hike in the bush.
Spoiler
Bickley weather 6th-8th
6th: 15.3/11.0 with 10.0mm, mostly cloudy with showers in the morning and heavy in the evening

8th: 14.5/8.2 with 0.0mm, sunny, foggy morning
July 6th
Northern Terminus
Views from Kalamunda Hill
Didn't take many photos July 6th, here's some vegetation, also notice the steep slopes; we had some of the steepest sections of the entire 1000km long trail.
July 7th:
Entered more open woodlands gradually rising through low hills to a ridgeline which we followed for an hour or so in the morning.
After staying on the ridge and passing a hut, we passed through 3 valleys, each with sharp descents and steep climbs.
Looking down at my mate who's halfway up a steep climb
About a third of the way down the first hill, starting to rain steadily
After the three hills we stayed on another ridgeline for about 15km, 10km of that on the 7th July and the first 5km of the 8th July.
Great photos It's incredible how geographically isolate the forests of the Perth area are (one of the most in the world) and yet they share the same species with the rest of Australia.
Coldest day of the year so far, maximums of 14.8C at Jandakot and 15.0C at Perth Metro...even Bickley in the hills only reached 11.0C !
Wintry photos from late this morning and early this afternoon.
Cottesloe Beach, unfortunately couldn't take time to shoot this pic as the rain was beginning to bucket down. The leading edge of a heavy cell arriving at the beach.
Spoiler
From East Fremantle Yacht Club looking eastwards:
From Bicton Baths looking north over the Swan River:
some ski photos from last week in Queenstown/Wanaka - only managed to ski two of the "big four" while the rest of the family skied all four.
I'm envy. Meanwhile here under our dictatorial government, everything is closed, included ski resorts buried in snow and on areas with barely any people infected

A sunny break at Point Walter:
Cold but mostly sunny:
Nice Norflok pine on that first photo. Plenty of those here in my neighborhood, just taller&older individuals.

Lot of snow in southern patagonia cities currently. I'm not gonna a flood of photos, just this couple from El Calafate where it seems they're giving up the street cleansing:
Very impressive range of Ts here today. Maxs from above 35ºC in the north to below -8ºC in the south. That's an over 40ºC variation!
Indeed, earlier today at 16:00 Las Lomitas reported 35.2°C and RÃo Grande reported -8.5°C.
This is a difference of 43.7°C between two near sea level places at the same time!!!
