The annual evaporation rate for Sydney is 1,600 mm (62.99 in). In the summer, the rate is 600 mm (23.62 in) and in winter 300 mm (11.81 in).

B.Q. What is the difference between evaporation rate and evapotranspiration btw? And which is more 'effective'?

But I don't quite get it. Why is the evaporation rate higher in Australia's coast than in the interior desert? Isn't the opposite?
