NYC averages 76 degrees in September, Seattle 68 degrees.
What I mean is that Seattle is warmer in winter & cooler in summer than NYC because the seasons tend to blend together on the West Coast. On the East Coast cold Canadian air can descend pretty early in the year [I suppose its just me since the last 2 visits to New York during Septembers have included surprisingly cold weather. It takes longer for that kind of cold to hit Seattle since weather systems move across the slowly cooling Pacific into the NorthWest
NY is MUCH sunnier than Seattle, warmer in summer, not too terribly much colder in winter most of the time, and doesnt have the constant drizzle-in-your-face either. And Seattle is plenty humid most of the year, just a little drier in summer, whoop-de-do.
Seattle in the summer is almost never hot and humid like New York.
Seattle is a bit more than "just a little drier in the summer". In June we average 1.49" of rain vs. New York with 3.45, July .79" vs. New York with 4.17" and August 1.02" vs. New York with 4.05".
yeah, i know, but im from GA i don't think NYC's winters are nearly as cold as many people make it seem, people act like if NYC has arctic winters or something, i've seen many times in the mornings in winter that we are colder than NYC.
The weather in both places is dreadful...but in all the times I have been to both cities I have encountered better weather in NYC. I have probably been to Seattle about 15 times and I have only seen one sunny day there. (didn't recognize anything that day and drove past my exit and got lost - it looked so different in the sun.)
Then again there is much more to do in NYC so as someone else here said..who cares what the weather is!
New York for sure, no competion. Proper summers, less crappy cloudy drizzly missly days.

New York enjoys on average 2,677 hours of sunshine in a year, compared to only 2,019 hours in Seattle.
