Some pretty cold temperatures in southern Saskatchewan this morning. The coldest was Val Marie, just 20 km from the Montana border, at -8.9°C (16°F). By comparison, CFS Alert at latitude 82°N was only slightly colder at -10.2°C.

Somebody said something the other day about bomb cyclones. Well, here you go: Alex is expected to drop his (her?) central pressure by about 30 mb in less than 12 hours as he (she?) spins to life.

There is no way Boston has a 16 C dew point with a low of 12 C tonight. Just doesn’t make any sense. US weather channel says dew point is 48 F (9 C), and that is much more believable.

The map was of temperatures, not dew points.

That said, there's nothing at all inconceivable about a dew point of 16°C followed by an overnight low of 12°C. Moisture can condense or precipitate out of the atmosphere or drier air can be advected in. Happens all the time.

Case in point: as the other guy said, dew point temperature in St. John's this morning was indeed 21°C. Forecast low tonight is 13°C.

Yeah sorry the map was just temperatures and I just mentioned the dew point along with it. I was referring to St. John's and not Boston.

Was mid 50s this morning. Definitely a little warmer in my room over night, just dropped to 70.

Perfect day. 70 by lunch. Drove to pick something up just to enjoy it. Now sitting at 76 which is just wonderful.

Today was pretty much a perfect fall day by our standards. 17C/63F and sunny. Well thats as warm as it gets with our high latitude sun. The foliage this year is nice too, most trees have noticeable coloration but there still is some green. And also most colorful leaves are still on the trees, some years they drop a lot faster due to windy weather or overnight frosts.

Warmest high today October 1th in Norway was 22.1C at Valldal SW of Trondheim (62N). 21C in Bergen.
Trondheim AP recorded 18.7C, for once we underperformed (by 1.3C) compared to the WO forecast. Low last night was 13.4C.
Anyway, a sunny and beautiful start to Oct.
