First freeze of the season this morning. Couple weeks earlier than normal.

Airport (out of the UHI) got down to -7C.

Some flowers definitely perished.

Chilly morning. Down to 46. It was cold stepping out barefoot onto my concrete balcony.

Warmed up nicely though. Sitting just below 70 with beautiful clear skies. Another cool night but should be a perfect weekend.

Only seeing a few random leaves change color. Not enough to really say "oh yea Fall is here". maybe in a couple weeks.

Also was thinking we might just be done with the 80s for the year. And then I checked the latest forecast and two 80s popped up for next Wed and Thurs. We'll see.

Bad air quality this afternoon and evening due to dust particles from agricultural areas in Eastern Europe, possibly also forest fires, transported here by the steady SE wind field lately. This is not common here.

True all I know for sure is that right now it's downright chilly in Chicagoland. High was 57F here 56F at MDW and 55F at ORD. My low this morning was 36F and 35F in West suburban Aurora, but in the massive urban heat island at MDW the low was 43F and 42F at ORD.

The CFSv2 is showing a monster warm up in the 8-14 day as well

So is the Euro
