The observatories atop Mauna Kea, Hawaii, at 13,000+ feet. There was no snow at the time, but it was very cold. I don't handle elevation well and fell asleep on a couch, to be awakened by an "earthquake" --the observatory turning.

Pikes Peak, 14,000 feet. I found it hard to breathe, it was cold even though mid summer. No thanks.

Mount Elbert - 14,439'.

For those who want to drive up, try Mount Evans at 14,265' (the highest paved road in North America).

The view from any Colorado 14'er is awesome no matter how you get up there.

Did you hike it? I wanted to get there while my kid attended college in state.

Didn't have time though so we settled for Mount Moosilauke.

Mt. Harvard in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness, Colorado @ 14,420'.

Have climbed/scrambled/hiked nearly all of Colorado's 14ers over the years, Harvard was the highest for me.

Several 13K+ summits also, those aren't nearly as loaded up with people and just as challenging.

Mauna Kea, elevation 13,803 feet (4,207 meters). I had prepared for the cold, but it was surprisingly mild when I was there; didn't need a jacket or anything.

My next highest was the highest point on the Interstate Highway System: the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70 in Colorado, at 11,158 feet (3,401 meters).
