Overall, an oceanic climate has milder temperatures and greater rainfall than a continental climate. Summers are relatively cool and winters are mild, unlike continental climate which is hot and humid in summers and cold in winters.

But when comparing transition seasons like spring/fall, circumstance seem to switch between these two climates. Continental climate has milder temperatures and more sunshine than oceanic climate. For example, oceanic climate like London & Amsterdam are gloomier and cooler than continental climate like Beijing & NYC.

I think it's because oceanic climates cool down or warm up much slowly and gradually. Continental climates have hotter and colder winters, so their temperature would change rather rapidly through fall/spring.
