Tokyo's winters are much warmer than Toronto for sure with more sunshine, but summers are hot and humid and also wetter than Toronto.

Overall, Toronto wins for the warmer half of the year (May - October) and Tokyo wins for the cooler half of the year (November - April). Which climate is better?

Climatemps has Tokyo at 2020 hours, just coinciding with their Olympics.

I'll take Tokyo winters, spring, and fall with Toronto summers to create a pretty good climate. Seriously though, Tokyo wins despite its bad summers due to its mild winters.

Honestly, the summers in Tokyo aren't even that bad at all, I'll take them even over Toronto's. The summer is a great humid subtropical pattern with decent rainfall to keep the environment and landscape looking refreshed and lively - and the summer highs even in the hottest month of August are only 87°F, meaning that it's solid enough heat unlike Toronto, yet also not that hot either compared to some other subtropical and tropical regions. The winters in Tokyo are a tad too cool for my liking, but they feature decent amounts of sunshine as the Japanese Alps protect them from the brunt of surface low pressure systems. Overall, a good humid subtropical climate, one of my favorite climate zones on Earth.

Toronto is just pure continental rubbish. I'll pass on that climate.

I'd say about even. Toronto is way too cold in the winter, for my thin California blood.

Tokyo is not only hot/humid, but they use AC sparingly, so its that much more miserable in the summer.

Toronto, it gets much more snow in winter and the summers aren’t hot and humid.

Tokyo would be my preference, since I don't like harsh winters. But it is a rather strange climate, given September is warmer than June and summer tends to be less sunny than winter.

Also I think something is wrong with the Tokyo temperature data since the "daily mean" is not halfway between the "average high" and "average low" for several months, in either F or C degrees. The Toronto data doesn't have this issue.

I choose Tokyo. Warmer winters and summers with more rainfall.
