What's the most snow you've seen in a climate where snow is very hard to forecast and they freak out easy or easier then you'd think given that climate's location?

Western Oregon does not typically see a lot of snow. In 2019 we experienced "snowpocalypse". We had about 18" of wet heavy snow that dropped trees, destroyed bushes, and crushed some houses roofs. I hope we never see anything like that again. We had about a foot of snow recently, but it was a dry light snow. Annoying, but not destructive.

I just noticed you live in the Willamette valley in Oregon. I'm thinking you must remember those events.

Had half an inch here in 2011. No real traffic problems as it had been dry and warm just before it fell, and it was gone within an hour of the sun rising. It did cause quite a few problems with vegetation though, with a lot of downed trees and broken branches.

The local news reported a police report, of a complaint by someone who had been hit by a snowball through an open window while in their house.... if this random violence and break down of social cohesion is what results from just a single snowfall, then quite frankly, I think we're better off without it!

Could happen to us here, mostly in March. On 3/15/21, we received 45cm of snow, severely damaging plants; however, roofs didn't collapse, perhaps because heavy and/or wet snowfall is common from February to April, and thus buildings are designed with that in mind. Later in the season, the effects of a given amount of snowfall worsen, due to plants beginning to grow or bloom; however, accumulation is less likely later on as well, with the latest ever being recorded in the first week of June.

At one point in March 2003, we got 100cm of snow from a single event. I don't remember this event, as I was a toddler back then.
