RIP, poor Texas. I was hoping for a 2015-16 repeat where everywhere in Texas I weather monitor was like 2 USDA zones above normal.

I'm back! Just in time for this Artic blast

We have near 40 below windchills this morning across the Chicagoland area with air temps around -7F to -9F
Got about 4 inches of snow last night. Was hoping for more. I took the dog out and boy do those winds really sting!

Cold week ahead but it will be significantly milder as we get into the new year. January promises to open mild

To recap the temps the last 2 months since I have been absent as well as December to date (Midway). October and November were above average, December is below average so far and will end up below average for the month based on the forecast

Leaving for Phoenix on the 28th so it will be much milder than it is here LOL

Can't believe even in the deep subtropical areas in the US they are now experiencing sub-zero temperatures. Will be a big shock

Agreed. My heart goes out to those Southerners to get through it safely.

We picked up about 1 inch of snow overnight, but it was really hard to measure due to the wind. I’m still waiting on my rain gauge to melt, although it won’t give me any idea of the snow ratio because much of the precip in the gauge came down as rain initially. I can tell by walking outside that it is a fairly high ratio snow.

The temperature now at my location is 12F, with a wind chill of -7F. It is supposed to get to 0F (actual temperature) by 11am today and stay at or below 0 until 10am on the 24th. Tonight’s forecast low is -3F.

I’m just pumped to get another White Christmas, even though there is only about 1 inch of snow on the ground. There is no way any of this is melting until after Christmas.

I’m also hoping we don’t lose power due to the 50-60 mph winds that are possible with this storm. If we lose power my house is going to get cold fast with these conditions. I feel bad for anyone who is without power in this kind of cold.

Changeover to snow just occurred south of Buffalo. We’re only expecting a modest 6-16 inches at my location, but over 3 feet could be expected near the city!

Hey at least you're not in Memphis! Looks like gynuiyt (spelling?) was right about worrying, they are currently at -17C right now with a -8C high, 7-8C below the normal seasonal coldest temperature on both counts.
