PNA won't be helping much for colder temperatures in the eastern US as it is forecasted to be neutral to negative out to two weeks.

In some inhabited Balkan places located on the plateaus are possible lows of about -20c in the next cold wave.

The same in my area.

At least higher parts of SE Europe will see snow and stronger frosts in the coming days.

Rewarming later next week should scour out much of North America's cold air supply for 11-15 day, so another Alaska ridge reset by late period will take some time to reconnect cold.

Ensemble clusters showing potential return of Alaska ridging toward start of second week of December for cooler to colder risks over Lower 48 after warm to very warm first week potential.

Are these models just trying to tease me here? This would be translate into a cold/very cold set up right around or just before the holiday period

From yesterday about 10:00 PM to this morning in 6:00 AM in Sjenica fell 23 cm of snow. Currently depth of snow is for sure bigger, because it has been falling whole morning and still snowing.

Photo from Sjenica yesterday evening (at 11:53 PM).

After this week a big warm up coming for the Central US coinciding with the MJO moving into phase 4 which is a warm phase but then collapsing. So when it collapses then other teleconnections will drive the weather but which? El Nino likely.
