Active pattern in the PNW for the first week of winter will bring downslope warm weather to the lee side of the Rockies. Up to 3 feet of snow in the mountains but rising snow levels over the next few days. #Cement

Stormy in the PNW

MJO forecast ahead is to move thru phases 3-4-5-6, which push very mild air into Canada & the US, as shown well by the week 2 forecast data. It will take the MJO moving into phases 7-8-1 to shake up this pattern & alter the PV in a way to start displacing the colder air back down into CA and the US.

Eric Webb doesnt wishcast cold outbreaks like other mets do in the winter. If he sees something in the longer range and comments on it then it must be something to keep your eyes on.

There is an ongoing battle of cooler NE winds and warmer S/SW winds in my region.

Zagreb @noon is at 8 C, while further south / east parts of the country are at 17-20 C.
Serbia is also being blowtorched, Belgrade for example is at 21 C. Records could potentially fall.

It might take a while for such a disruption to propagate to the surface...
