Walking on the beach in Westhampton this morning at 50°. Granted, this is New York but still, pretty much the same as very nearby Connecticut.

You're going to have to watch George Bush Airport towards the end of the week. Multiple near freezes forecast there.

Also parts of North Carolina not freezing yet is surprising given how hard Charleston Airport got hit by the cold blast last week.

Edit: Ocracoke has no temps below 5C in it's forecast! Even zone 9B Tybee Island has lower temps in its forecast than that!

Looks like it changed from when I checked it earlier today. Hardly a surprise, though.

Either way, their first yearlong frost-free period is a cinch, even if they fail to reach 2024 for the first frost.

Agreed how crazy their performance compared to the other places is, reminds me of January 22 2020 when they had the same 4C lows as Miami/Fort Lauderdale. Relative to that, having warmer lows than Tybee Island and being untouched despite Charleston Airport getting hit pale in comparison.

Either way I am certainly not complaining, it is one of the reasons why North Carolina's Outer Banks are part of the cream of the crop of my Southeast US weather monitoring. Phenomenal performances a LOT of the time despite colder averages and higher latitude than places like Charleston Airport.

Nice 534 precip line over Georgia on the 18z GFS around 7-8 days out. Still to warm on the surface for snow, though.

I also might be watching Conroe Airport. If - admittedly I'm not completely sold on the reliability of this station, so I might take it with a grain of salt from here on - 1C is the actual December 11 corrected low instead of -3C, they have a greater risk than George Bush Airport: from December 28-30, they have lows of 0C to -1C forecast.

Of course I wouldn't put it past the station to underperform with near misses, since it might have back on the 11th with the -2C forecast. But if the station is reliable and those are its first frosts, it will have had the first ever frost free season of over 365 days - even more impressive than for George Bush Airport doing so.

And today marks the 1 year anniversary of both the December 2022 cold wave and the December 26 2022 last frosts places like Conroe and Houston Airports were lucky to get.

As of yesterday ORD is and astounding +8.5F above normal. Midway +8.7F. Our observer here at IKK seems to always have a problem uploading temp to NWS Chicago in a timely manner so its only through the 22nd

No model conformation yet on whether January will actually be far less above average than December?

Christmas ended up better than expected temp-wise as front arrived quicker than expected. Max was 58F and it was a bit windy.

Got down to 33F this morning. Today's high was 57F. Back up above 60F tomorrow then another cooldown with a dry cold front. Coolest low in the forecast is 28F Friday night.
