The ground is still pretty waterlogged here despite only 5" of precipitation in the same time frame, but the ground has only just thawed. Not sure if it'll have a chance to dry up seeing as we're supposed to get 1-2" on the weekend. Too cool to dry out but maybe also too cool for moss/fungus seems to be the situation here.

Rain all around me and can't buy a drop. Heavy rain way offshore 97 miles west of me in super heated water. Once it gets close to the land shadow and colder water it will start to fall apart. Maybe get .40" if i am lucky.

So the official high was 19.3C yesterday.

The date which has the coldest average daily temperature here is Jan 25/26, with an average high/low of -4.4C/-12.3C. Ironically, this is also when we recorded the warmest temperature of January and of February, when it hit 15.6C on January 25, 1950.

Up until yesterday, the earliest in the year we've ever exceeded 15.6C was on March 7, 2000, when it reached 19.1C. So we've now beaten that temperature value, and had it occur earlier, 19.3C on March 4, 2024.

19.3C Mar 4, 2024 (earliest >15.6C)

High here was 63F just after midnight before the cold front pushed through. Both ORD and MDW had a high of 45F. Currently 40F

Torch over? Euro saying so after the next 2 weeks.

No 90's yet. Need some real rain like 100" to make up for near 5 dry years. I see another dry year unless we get some freaky tropical action or a May like 1979 when Tampa had 17" in 2 days.
