TC Megan contines to dump huge amounts of rainfall on Groote Eylandt.
The total since 9.00am yesterday at the Groote Airport is now 431.0mm !
And this is on top of the revious days 24 hour total of 249.4mm.

Three Bom sites on Groote since WW2. Here are their record daily rainfall totals historically:
Angurugu - 1921-1989 = 513.3mm
Alyangula - 1970-2012 = 241.0mm
Groote Airport - 1999-2024 = 313.0mm

The highest 2 day totals I can find was 686.0mm at Angurugu in March 1953 !

The Groote Airport ended up with 431.0mm in the 24 hours to 9.00am
The 48 hour total is 680.4mm, just shy of the 1953 record at Angurugu ( 686.0mm )
The Airport site is only a coupla klm from Angurugu town.

A very autumny autumn here so far. 1-2 c below average, with new snow on the hills for the third time since the start of march. Cooler nights as well.

Continuing dry with only with 12 mm rain so far for march and 43 mm for the year so far. Sunny with sunshine for the year to date at 873 hours.

The dry and cool conditions continue. Estimate over 100 dead tree ferns on the property, from lack of moisture.

In Christchurch today. Currently 26C at about 1:00pm. A chance of heavy rain in motueka, which will be very welcome if it doesn't fall too quickly
