Of course from this side already we have had many snowfalls in the resorts, and also even in the lowland cities of Patagonia, with Ushuaia having its first good dump of the year just a couple of days ago.

I've been pretty absent from this thread lately, but that doesn't mean the weather has been boring at all, quite the opposite: we've been under the full influence of El Niño for the past two months, which meant a lot of rain (and mosquitoes ) and the show will continue with a huge upper depression that will flood the center of the country from west to east during the next weekend, and then end with a cyclogenesis over the province of BA.

The first significant cool change of the season this week, for SE Australia anyway.
Nighttime temperatures are notably cooling.

Some respectable 72 hour rainfall totals for the westland ranges, with 973mm at cropp river and 1045mm at tuke tuke.

Picked up 88mm for 24 hours here, and very gentle, so no issues ... other than an invasion of crickets and spiders into the house.

First major snowfall of the season in store for Patagonia during this upcoming week. Already today it snowed in the low lying cities there like in Bariloche itself.

That's interesting. It's funny this looks like the first real cold shot of the winter season.

-80° C / -112 °F has been reached at Vostok Station, Antarctica. This is the first time the -80 °C threshold has been reached in April since 1998 and only the 4th time in April since records began in 1958.

Another dusting of snow on the hills this morning, to about 1000 metres - the sixth since the start of Autumn. Three lawn frosts so far.

Massive snowfall in Bariloche and the lakes area since Saturday, unseen during May since quite many years I would say, even the local airport had to close operations for a day. Just a pic of the town hall of the city, where the snow is expected to end tomorrow:

Despite many ground frosts this Autumn, have only recorded the first air frost this morning - about -2.5C.
