Here's the REAL Key Biscayne forecast. Your forecast must be from Kendall or Cutler Ridge or something.
Forecasts for here don't do so well. During the cold snap this February NWS predicted 38F at the airport and 44F here. The low was 42F at the airport and 41F here.
I live here . A distance of 1 mile does nothing to moderate a airmass while being on the water makes all the difference.
Yet, you're the one saying that it was 11 F colder at your house than on the coast somehow less than half a mile away. OK.
Being on the water makes a very slight difference. It's usually nearly the same temperature on the beach than 1-2 miles inland, considering how urban Miami is. The difference is really only noticeable when you're about 5-7 miles inland and especially in the less developed suburbs (such as West Kendall). There's hardly any difference in temperatures between Sunny Isles Beach and Aventura, for example.

Yes. Once. Normally the difference is 1-3F at night and about 1F in the opposite direction during the day (in winter)

I still would like to see evidence for this. As someone who's out at night here in Miami very frequently I have never seen that difference, even with places that are 6-8 miles inland (and slightly less developed).

Let's keep track this winter and see who's right.
Every morning look at A)Virginia key. B)Miami Beach. C) My PWS (or if you don't trust me) Some station ~1 mile inland.
First freeze of the season possible Monday night. Forecast low is 33 F ATM. Hopefully the freeze happens before December starts.
