Nothing interesting really, but at least it's a vast improvement over december. I much prefer this rain / sun pattern over the constant fog and stable temps of last month. Hopefully the second half of january will feel more wintry.
Did you not see the forecast for Skipton in December? They were predicting 23 and it wasn't even close.
I don't live in Skipton. Here, their forecasts are far superior to those on the BBC or weather.com. On 1st July, weather online forecasted 36-37c, BBC 34-35c, weather.com 33c and accufail 31c.
Weatheronline is better for here too. They were consistently going for 31-32C on 1 July last year, reached 33C in the end. BBC didn't even go for 30C until the day itself, then they went for 31C when the temperature at 10am was 29C and 30C just before 11am.
Was quite a remarkable day really, for us. Been a long, long time since I felt it that hot so early in the day. If it wasn't for the clouds and thunderstorms later in the afternoon it would have gotten a lot hotter I'm certain, as the 33C was achieved around 2pm, when the max typically occurs around 4-5pm in summer. Got the best lightning show I've ever seen at around 12am when it was still 23C outside, from a passing nearby supercell. Went outside into my back garden and observed in a T-shirt and shorts.. felt like I was on the Prairies or something, lol.
Temps are usually good. The sunshine forecasts, are the work of a clown.
