Not really. 5C is 6C below average, I'd say that was cold! And even in northern Ireland 5C is below average for the time of year...
It feels freezing to me! I think it is more than cold enough here, so cannot even begin to imagine living where you are
I have not recorded a single ice day in the 11 1/2 years I have lived here, even in December 2010 the lowest daytime high I recorded was +1C...
Well, it isn't much far below average, and i'd expect a High of 5c each November to be honest.
I am surprised that you have not recorded an Ice Day in 12 years when we are having one now. I would say, that if you went inland the temperatures would be colder. I think its your coastal location that is a factor. I think places here that are right on the coast probably haven't had an Ice day since 2010.

Even in December the only parts of N.I to have average highs of 5-6C are on the very highest ground, most of N.I has averages of 7-8C, with some areas having 8-9C & not just on the coast...
Well of course temperatures are lower inland, my Mum has had quite a few ground frosts already & she is only 8 miles north of Portsmouth. It is a coastal factor but also an UHI factor here, a double whammy really...
I know what your talking about. Your talking about those maps. They say that places on the coast have an average min of 4c when I have an average min of 1c.
The highest ground has an average of 2c.
You'd be pretty hard pressed to get anywhere in Northern Ireland besides the extreme coast to have an average high of 9c . Even the sea temperatures are colder than that in January.

Umm Enniskillen & Ballkelly have average highs in December of 7C & Antrim 7.5C according to those links (which states the data is from 1971-2000)...
The Met Office & their maps show it is milder than you claim ... The latest maps for 1981-2010 show this & their data & mapped averages are about most accurate you could find anywhere...

It's usually a degree or two colder in the winter, being 20 km inland and higher elevation. Today the difference was 0°C and -2°C. Sometimes it's been as large as -5°C and -12°C respectively.
Foreca.fi which is by far the most accurate site for local weather also shows -24°C for Tallinn though. Yr.no, another good site, shows -19°C. Larger international sites are usually off by a mile.
