The gfs is more accurate. The met office are very pestimistic especially with their lows. My lows are ALWAYS 3c or so lower than they forecast, and no i am not in a frost hollow- katesbridge and castlederg are often 5/6c lower than they forecast. So i just use the gfs and it is always right.

They are usually ok for here. But I don't use their generic forecast for Portsmouth (or Southsea on BBC site) I use a more local one on the Met Office site (Old Portsmouth Beach) as that is closer to where I live. I actually contacted the Met Office about the forecasts for Portsmouth & Southsea, as they gave temperatures much lower than what I record, & I was told to ignore them as there was some sort of problem with the data & to use either Old Portsmouth Beach or Eastney Beach until they fix the problem sometime this year...

The UK does look cold for a few days but NI looks rather milder.

Then the Atlantic wins from around next Thursday.

I see 4s and 5s for the West of the country (Wales, SW England, NI and the Scottish Islands)

Don't know where you think any severe cold is going to come from?

The rest of Scotland - and parts of England - will be cold, but not exceptionally cold.
