Since joining this forum, I've slowly started to envy the southern Finland summers. They seem much better than here in recent years at least.
They are much better. Everything about the southern Finnish climate is a lot better to me. I really was born into the wrong climate. I just cannot stand the monotony that we are currently experiencing.

Eastern Europe/Scandinavia have been on a very lucky run in the past few years, taking all the heat and that is what lead to us having awful summers from 2007-2012..

Soon enough, the tides will turn and we will be getting the record breaking temperatures

Well, works both ways. In June we had some very chilly weather, as an Arctic low was stuck above us the same way the high pressure bulge was now stuck. And not every summer has been great, the 2009 and 2012 summers were very weak. But when the setting is right we can get some very excellent summer weather.
But as we are so far north, the seasons are very intense. It can be winter in March, chilly in April, and after mid September it's a steep drop in temperatures, and that's what I envy in the English climate!

And you're right. Summers have generally been very good since 2000. And even if it hasn't always been warm all the time, there's at least some heat guaranteed at some point, and usually it stays with us for a week or more.

And the brilliant weather continues:

All looks good, except for that UV index. 4? C'mon now, it's still July.
