However practical average daytime temps are
(buildings and pavement retain warmth, sunset temps are often close to it)
I find it unusual/uncommon to think in terms of daily averages.
*You are talking the average between the daytime high and nighttime low?

Do they mention daily averages much in South Florida?

yeah I was referring to average daytime highs. With that in mind, South TX and all of Florida have mild winters in my book.

Pretty much the southern 2/3'rds of TX would probably be fine for you;
southern half of West, (Midland/Odessa) Central, (San Angelo, Byran/College Station) and East TX, as well as all of South TX.

South Florida doesn't even have a "mild" winter (or any winter) in my book;
it's like late-summer/early-autumn, but with occaisional freak cold-snaps.
A typical January morning in Fort Lauderdale is often warmer than a lot of our mid-summer mornings. ()

For me, a winter begins when you have reliable frosts (I'd say 4 out of 5 years).
Mild winter: avg lows are at or above freezing. (Richmond, VA is about the northern limit)
Moderate winter: daily highs are above freezing, lows below freezing. (Cleveland, OH is the northern limit)
Very cold winter: highs are below freezing but above freezing temperatures are common during warm spells
Severe winter: above freezing temperatures are rare even during warm spells

^^ I sorta have a similar view;

Winter starts when the average between the daytime high and nighttime low dip below 32 F (0 C).
This usually happens between late-Nov and mid-Dec.
We have such a small Fall/Winter diurnal range (cloudiness?)
that this usually means the highs are under 40 F (4 C) when this starts happening.

*That said, I wish our area never experienced any seasons as cold as "mid-Autumn" through "early-Spring."

I don't think So. Florida has winter at all. Sure there are cold snaps you hear about because of the fruit crops, but they never last 24 hrs.!

Cracks me up, they talk about freezing, how it is winter, because of an overnight low of 30 but it warms up during the day! The temp is 50, big deal, not winter in my book! I laugh when people complain about 50 as cold! Health issues are one thing (people get cold easy on blood thinners, for example) but just out and out saying 50 is cold, please!!! Of course, I'm known to whine when it is damp and 40 but that is a whole 'nother topic!

Most people in South Florida run their A/C in the daytime.
Even on perfectly pleasant days in the low 70's with moderate humidity and a breeze.
So it can be a big deal if they aren't used to turning on heat, or perhaps don't even have heat.

I am one of those complainers that 50 F is cold.
I will probably complain about 50 F being cold until the day I die.
Except during winter; but I'm only thankfull it's not insanely-cold
I think I used to not mind it before my nerve disorder,
but nowadays 50 F is can range from "not nice" to "nightmare."

You're right though, just like I can't take the heat because of not sweating enough, people with health issues certainly cannot take cooler temps! This winter I'll try to give Floridians a break when they say its cold!

Have you had it your condition your whole life?
(often people develop conditions after childhood)

I've certainly been hating the westerly regime with a long run of dry and sunny weather , 3 days of cloudy weather has however made me a bit happier but need lots more rain as we've had only half the average so far this year
