THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL OUTLOOK
Updated at: 11:16am
Sunday: The trough is likely to move eastward on Sunday across the eastern parts of Victoria. Isolated thunderstorms should be possible in the east and northeast at first thanks to this, whilst thunderstorms are not expected elsewhere, despite a weak front expected to move in from the west later in the day. Small to medium chance for severe thunderstorms in the east and northeast
EXTENDED OUTLOOK
Monday: No thunderstorms are expected across the state thanks to a high pressure ridge causing stabalization.
Tuesday: Another weak front will move through southern Victoria, though its not strong enough to cause any convective and thundery weather, so no thunderstorms.
Wednesday (New Years Eve): A high pressure ridge will just reach western Victoria, overall causing a stable environment which is not favourable for thunderstorms.
Thursday (New Years Day): No thunderstorms are expected as the high pressure system systems keeps the ridge over the state.
Friday: No thunderstorms are expected thanks to the high pressure system moving over the state.
Saturday: No thunderstorms are expected thanks to the high pressure system continuing to move over the state.

Monday Afternoon: No thunderstorms are expected across the state thanks to a high pressure ridge causing stabalization.
Tuesday: A front will move through southern Victoria early in the morning causing an increase in shower activity. At this stage there is only a small chance for cold-cored thunderstorm activity along the coastline, though there are better chances in the eastern half of the state with a pre-trough system. This is where conditions may become organised and severe activity could develop. I will watch this for tomorrow.

Sunday: Not sure what type of system will approach Victoria, however at this stage it could be a quasi-stationary trough of low pressure. This would mean thunderstorms possible.
Monday: Not sure what type of system will be near Victoria, however at this stage it could be a quasi-stationary trough of low pressure. This would mean thunderstorms possible.

Sunday: A low pressure trough is likely to approach Victoria sometime during the day, and this may allow the possibility for isolated thunderstorms.
Monday: The trough is likely to push eastwards through Victoria or out of the state. At this stage it should be mainly fine though there may be the risk for an isolated thunderstorm.

Tuesday: Isolated cold-cored thunderstorms have already developed along the southwest coast and also in the far northeast thanks to this frontal system. The front will move out of Victoria early afternoon. Isolated cold-cored thunderstorm activity along the coastline and in the northeast is likely to clear early afternoon. THere is a very small chance for a redevelopment of thunderstorms in the east this afternoon.
