Could someone who lives in the area give us an update as to how much damage there was? Steve-O, did it hit your area? Did everything turn out ok?

I know there are a couple people who are members who are there for a game. One guy from work is actually there, too so I'm interesting in knowing how things are.

Where I'm at, thankfully I don't see a lot of damage. Stuff was flying everywhere, so there is a mess outside, though. It was a pretty intense storm, w/ a few different tornadoes. We had a confirmed sighting about 4 blocks away.

I'm glad to hear that your area turned out ok considering how awful it sounded on TWC.

It got hairy for about 10-15 minutes, then disappeared as fast as it came. I got home just in time to hear the sirens going off, which was proceeded immediately with pretty high winds (40-50 mph), decent rainfall, and INTENSE lightning. Saw several tree branches in peoples' yards this morning, no structural damage to anything other than a flipped construction trailer.

Well, we know two people turned out ok.

They had a news story on CBS about it today. They said the winds were stronger then those of Edouard. (spelling?) The news story went on to say that three tornadoes had touched down in the area. One of them was just in the Ind. state line and it took down a tree that fell on someone's house and there was a fatality. They also showed Wrigley Field being evacuated when the sirens were blowing.

They said some touched the ground, but that was false. There were rotations, but nothing touched the ground. In any case, that was probably the worst storm Ive ever seen here in my life. Thankfully things seem ok.

All turned out ok. I was at the game and we were in the upper deck when straight line winds likely near 60 mph with driving rain all of a sudden came rushing in. Everyone was ducking down and holding onto seats. I took video from the top facing towards downtown at what looked like a funnel cloud. It was unbelievable, I seriously thought for a while that a tornado was about to blow right through us, we couldn't see anything and in all seriousness I thought that really could be it...Call us stupid and all, but there were probably 10k still in the upper deck when that rolled through. I'm not sure what we were thinking but most of us were so mesmerized we couldn't think to take shelter.

There were 90,000 lightning strikes during that single storm. That is more than 1/2 the amount we receive in an entire YEAR!

Yeah, whoa!
