Under a Tree the Worst Place to Be in Storm, Experts Say.

It may seem as if some Zeus-like creature is hurling real thunderbolts these days. At least 17 people have been struck by lightning so far this month, and seven of those people have died.

John, thank you for posting your news stories. They're always very interesting.

It seems that the weather is starting to take a toll on people. There was also a horrible event in Illinois this morning. A family was sleeping in two seperate tents and a tree fell on one of them. A little 4 year old boy was killed and a very young sister of his and a nine year old sister are both in the hospital in critical condition. I can't imagine how horrible the parents and grandparents are feeling right now.

I'm so glad the soccer game people survived, a miracle indeed. How sad, Jammie, about the tree falling on a tent. Tragic!! It makes one wonder, doesn't it?

There was another sad story that I read about last night. A man drowned in a 20 foot hole off Galveston Island. The riptides had created it. He was out with friends and was in a "No Swim" zone, but they aren't sure if they just wandered in there while being out in the ocean or if they purposely went in. Just awful.

Not to make light of it, BUT since all the soccer players survived, they can join our club of lightning strike survivors.
