Helmintoller is a very exaggerated version of my dream climate. It's my dream climate on pure weather interest.

You have more in the shoulder season, I have more in winter. Summers are ridiculously similar. Yeah, summer cloudiness can go to hell.

I thought you were all for cool-mild summers.

Anyway, here's mine, it has barely changed:

Yeah, over last summer I learned to appreciate heat and humidity during the summer time. Nothing says "summer" more to me than an intense sun angle, temps around 33 C with high humidity, and lots of convectional activity on the horizon. I realized it being cool year-round would likely be boring and would make me appreciate cool/cold weather less, also it would hinder thunderstorm development during summer.

Now my taste in weather is it can get as hot as it wants from June-August, but I at least need my cold winter. I'd choose a climate with a hot summer/cold winter any day over a mild summer and mild winter.

A perfect climate should have variety, as comfortable as possible seasonal peaks, and short transition seasons. Behold:

I define the seasons of the climate as:

- Warm, mostly wet period (Feb-Apr)
Frequent, intense showers with thunderstorms, supercells, tropical depressions, cyclones, etc. Still plenty of sunshine between rain events. Of course, this town happens to be atop a hill, so drainage isn't a concern.

- Cold, mostly snowy Period (May-Jul)
Cold fronts bring showers, subzero temps and the odd thundersnow event. Otherwise sunny.

- Cold, mostly dry period (Aug - Sep)
A short period for winter sports now that the ground has a thick cover of snow.

- Warm, mostly dry period (Oct - Jan)
The odd thunderstorm but otherwise dry. The most sunny period.

I'm still sticking with this:

Mild to warm winters, warm summers, ample precipitation year-round, lots of sunshine, and fairly low humidity. Even the coldest winter days are warm enough for a T-shirt and shorts.

By the way, where has Galaxyman been recently, and why did he stop doing the Saab Island stuff?

Interesting that you don't make December a full winter month. I thought people who wanted snowy winters wanted snow most of all around Christmas!

I bet if we tallied everyone's dream climates here, the average would look somewhere like Kentucky or Missouri
