Looks similar to Phoenix during the summer, although the lows are slightly higher.

Extremely hot for spring though. I couldn't imagine what summer is like on Saab Island.

Saab Island is well within the tropics... something like 15 degrees from the Equator.
So sometime in November would be the time of highest sun, not Dec 21st.

The "Build-Up" season experienced by Oz's tropical north is the season with their worst heat and heat indexes.
"Summer" is actually cooler at least in they day, so even though it's wetter and more humid, (flooding is common)
heat indexes tend to be lower than in the "Build Up."

*Assuming Sab Island is experiencing Build-Up; hence my question.

Coltingbury Weather Update

Severe weather news - 2 dead and 50 injured in tornado
09-11-2010 - 2 people are confirmed dead and 51 people injured, many seriously, after an F3 tornado with winds up to 165mph roared through the Basterton district of South Coltingbury, narrowly missing a major, busy market which has been set up there for the next two weeks.

The violent wind occured as a heavy squall-line of thunderstorms associated with an unusually powerful, southerly tracking jetstream and deep low pressure blasted through the area at about 20:25 local time, with a brief but "extraordinary" deluge of hail, rainfall rates up to 15" per hour, and frequent lightning. Damage to the south Coltingbury district affected is believed to amount to costs of £193,000,000.

The passage of the strong cold front marked a change from unusually warm and humid weather, whereby dewpoints had been reached excess of 24 degrees celsius (75 degrees F) ahead of the front, with a long reach of tropical air from hundreds of miles to the south.

Hailstones built up in drifts in the streets and blocked drains, and dangerous flash floods swept parts of the large outdoor market away as well as dragging cars down the streets. When the tornado hit, it came very unexpectedly, says one witness (who wishes to remain nameless): "there was alot of excitement what with the intensity of the storm and i was about to step outside after the huge storm of hail and wind. sooon as I went outside, it was like a frickin bomb goin' off, windows blew out, stuff took off, there was this terrific noise and i ran back inside pissing my pants and grabbing onto the door frame as i thought i would take off too. debris smashed around me everywhere and i nearly got hit by some large stuff like a train, truck or car something what could have 'ad me 'ed of. After the noise and wind died off, I looked up to see the sky where the ceiling should have been, the roof was in the street on top of several crushed cars! then in the street people were lying about with blood pouring from their orafices, some trapped under some rather heavy stuff"

One of the people killed in the storm had been lifted up in the air but landed on a high voltage power line, which immediately electrocuted him to death. The other guy was sitting in his car when a building roof crashed down onto it. Others were non-fatally injured by the debris flung everywhere. Most of the buildings badly damaged were not very occupied at the time, probably reducing deaths.

And so the weather is to remain unsettled in Coltingbury, with showers and now cold weather conditions, with a whole lotta wind. The storm is the worst in Coltingbury in several years, and the first fatal tornado since the dreadful storm of April 24th, 1998. November is a very unusual time of year for such a storm.

For downtown Sabtown (the official station), the record high is 50.4C on December 27, 2001. Thursday came very close to that, with 49.6C recorded, so fell a little short of cracking the big 50 but still a record November temp. The highest temp in the suburbs was 49.8C at Rodriguez, about 35km inland.

For Saab Island as a whole, the record high is 52.2C recorded at Masding Well, in the northern reaches of the Mercury depression about 80km inland from Mackenzie.

What about record lows? I would guess somewhere in the 60s (15-21 C)?

For downtown Sabtown the record low is 7.8C, although at Point Piper (station is about 100m inland) the record low is 12.4C.

The coldest temp recorded in metro Sabtown was 3.2C at Newton Heights, about 28km inland SW of downtown.

The warmest record low for any town in Saab Island belongs to Brighton, which is on a narrow Peninsula near Palmville at about 12 deg latitude, with a record low of 17.6C.
