Last night there was severe weather in the OK/Ark. area and it ended badly in Mena.

Today/tonight there is another huge area that has tornado/severe thunderstorm warnings. I just hope that everything turns out ok. There have been several tornadoes spotted and one hit Murfeesburg, Tn. just a bit ago. It's not going to be a good Easter for the southeast area of our country.

What exactly is causing this?
Strange Jet Stream positioning?
Stacking of lows?

Well, I can't talk in meteorological terms, but what I gather from it is that the warm Gulf air is kind of colliding with cooler northern air and BOOM!!!! Horrible weather and tornadoes. It's actually a very normal occurence in the springtime.

I just hope it settles down and everyone can have a safe and peaceful Easter Sunday. It is tornado season but seems rather active so far.

What I don't get is the overnight storms, seems to me there are more reports of tornadoes after midnight lately.

I've always been a weather hound, always fascinated me, plus living in mobile homes for 30 yrs. before I moved to Wisconsin. Now I have a house with a basement! Mobile home living makes you weather aware (or it should)!

My dad loved storms and he always took us down to Lake Michigan when there was a NE wind. He really taught us to respect weather.

That was sad. We were down near that area a few years ago. They have a beautiful "drive" down there called the Talimena Drive. It stretches between Talihini (sp?), OK and Mena, Ar. It takes you through a beautiful area of the Ozarks and a lot of people love driving through it in the autumn.
