I can tell you that yes there is a hole in the ozone layer and its right above us in NZ!!
It was believed that all the worlds cfcs and so on accumulated down here, but i just came across this which is interesting

Anyway its funny seeing people come here from other parts of the world and say "sunscreen? pew i dont need that" only to be red as a lobster the next day
The sun here has an intense sting which can burn in about 15mins depending on your skin type. Even the dark skin types get burnt here!
We just make sure we put on sunscreen and everything is fine.
