I hear this a lot for Australians I know, but I want to know how many cities average that mark in the summer.

Average high temperatures: only a few, such as Marble Bar (but with a tiny population)

Daily mean temperatures: NONE.

For daily mean temps at any time of year anywhere in 2022 Earth, I think it’s just Death Valley, remote corners of fhe Sahara, and certain pockets of Arabic speaking West Asia near the Persian Gulf and Red Sea. (Maybe low-lying inland parts of Balochistan too?)

Kununurra, Western Australia has a decile 9 maximum temperature above 40C in Oct-Dec. 41.4C in Nov, ie the hottest 10% of days in that month record 41.4 or more.

It's a pretty small place, 5,308 (2016 census) but not tiny like Marble Bar.

There is a huge area of the northern Outback where official BOM sites have a mean maximum temp exceeding 40c in at least one spring or summer month.
Without doing too much research, the most southerly site is probably Gascoyne Junction, WA, inland from Carnarvon and at 25.05*S. The Jan mean max is 40.7c.
Furthur north into the Pilbara, most of the towns and mining sites inland from the coast and at lower altitude have summer mean max's exceeding 40c.
Emu creek Station: Jan - 41.2c, Feb - 40.2c
Paraburdoo: Dec - 40.7c, Jan - 40.8c
Pannawonica: Dec - 40.5c, Jan - 41.0c
Marble Bar: Nov - 40.7c, Dec - 42.0c, Jan - 40.8c
Telfer Mine: Dec - 40.4c, Jan - 40.3c
The seasonal heat ramps up earlier in the Kimberley of WA and into the Northern Territory.
Fitzroy Crossing: Oct - 40.3c, Nov - 40.9c
Cadjebut Mine: Nov - 40.3c
Camballin: Nov - 40.7c, Dec - 40.6c
Wyndham: Nov - 40.0c
The Queensland town of Birdsville on the edge of the Simpson Desert also has the month of January with a mean max of 40.6c.
