Ok, on second thought, its not the dry (duh), but the way cooler than normal overnight lows doing it!
Even though its raining, I'll take a ride through the state forest to check out the trees! Shades of my dad, when we were staying in a cabin complaining because of the rain, he'd take us on a ride through the campgrounds to see all the people in tents and everything soaking wet!
Geez, I was about to say what lucky dogs you are to be blessed with the beauty of fall colours, but yeah, isn't it early?? I was thinking September.
It "frightens me," because the days with mornings that are barely cold enough to accelerate the colour change are also cold enough to turn my bare fingers purple and sting badly within 3-5 minutes; I do not like "Fall colours" from my own fingers.
-2/3rds of the time the forest is "aflame" and "kaleidescope-like," the skies make a dark, flat-grey back backdrop.
-Usually the leaves fall and turn to slime once they land on the ground, from too much rain/drizzle
-1/3 autumns we have the leaves on the ground might usually be "crisp" and can move from the breeze of a passing car.

The apple tree is having some leaves turn yellow and dropping. Its early, maybe its the sudden heat after being so cool and rainy? Also, we have NO butterflies which is odd. We always plant a garden and put in plants they like, but none so far. ???
Anyway, next week we'll finally get our first 90 degree day of the summer here in Pa.
Technicolour yawns?
I imagine a flat of VB and some meat pies might turn colourful.
Yeah, that's about it for technicolour here alright.
Our native trees drop leaves all %!#$#*!@ year long. At least with your fall, it gets it over and done with. A few big rakings and that's it. Here, there's always something to rake or sweep up, or clean out of your gutter. Messy things they are.

Not really...
We have a big leaf drop at the early part of autumn, but that only drops 1/3 to 1/2 of the leaves. The rest drop within 3 weeks to 3 months somewhat-intermittantly afterwards... Some continue to drop leaves until after the first snow/first Arctic blast/early winter/Christmas.
*Depending on the tree species; maples and ashes are the earliest, oaks are the latest.
**This does add to the kaleidescope effect however, with solid greens mixed in with the earlier fall colours.
In NYC suburbs (not many trees in the city itself) it is usually late October.
