Hohhot looks similar to the Canadian prairies. Not too bad of a climate. Hotan looks a little too dry in my opinion

For me, I will actually choose Hohhot over Hotan, as even if the temperatures are warmer, its extreme aridity force its residents to drink from the nearby oases. Once they are gone, there goes the settlement.

You're right, Hohhot has a similar climate to the Canadian Prairies....
for example ...Medicine Hat, Alberta.

Interestingly...Hohhot is at about 40N ...Medicine Hat at about 50N
