Even though some of the summer temps can get right up there, the climate is semi-arid so the dewpoint and humidity generally stay very low. The nights cool down a lot even in the summertime. Actual summer heat is quite short-lived.
It's in the same state that I live in, but it doesn't get the humidity, high dewpoint, OR all the cold days that I get during the wintertime. It's a beautiful place and you may want to check into it.
Some of the pluses are~no state income tax, most of the people are friendly, beautiful scenery, you're only a few miles from Mt. Rushmore, etc. It's a nice place.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the help. I think somewhere in Canada would probably be ideal!
I think you could get used to dealing with heavy snow better than I can; at least it wouldn't sting you the instant you touch it.
Plus out on the East Coast, life (supposedly) moves at a slower pace,
so the fact that there snow can be ridiculous does not neccerarily equal "stress" as it would in the Toronto Area,
where we are almost always expected to show for work, and traffic is already annoying in perfectly dry weather.
*I think what made Ft. McMurray very humid sometimes is that it's surrounded by "muskeg" or swampy land over at least 10% of the land area mixed in with higher, dry land. Living somewhere further south that's semi-arid might not get as muggy, since there's less "local evaporation."
But anywhere in the Prairies can easily see -30 F, even for a daytime high.
Windchills of -60 F are possible from anywhere east of the Rockies right to the western edge of the Great Lakes.
The main difference in winter between Ft. McMurray and Calgary is that the days with extreme cold don't last as long.
BTW, to give you folks an idea of how poorly suited to warm weather I am, it's currently 78 degrees here with a dewpoint of only 54. I just rode my bike home leisurely and I'm now sitting in front of the fan (on high) trying to cool off! The sun is just so hot here!
I can relate to that, I get warm easy as I don't sweat enough (not a good thing, hard to cool off)! My face keeps getting very red to almost a purple color, very scarey! I naturally have rosey color to my face (1/2 Scandanavian) and you should see it when I'm hot!!! Like Lamp's smiley face!!!

Sorry to hear that.
No wonder you hate 90 F.
I too don't sweat easily...
however I nearly-always break a sweat before I feel overheated.
My face can turn red on a hot day, while being sweaty,
yet I actually usually feel fine like that... ()
I'd like to feel as hot outside on a walk as I do inside at 72 F doing hard cardio, with my pulse at 170 beats a minute.
But I was surprised that I can't feel that hot even on a 94 F day, since I sweat before I can build up enough core heat,
and even with 60% humidity it evaporates and chills me "the way sweat should." (against my will sometimes )
^^ But then again, I'm thankfull that heat illness is highly unlikely for me; it's nice not to worry.
*I too am 1/2 Scandinavian... Wonder how that works.
I checked the weather station at the river, rather than the one by Lake Michigan, and we still had only 8 days 80 or above and 4 of those were exactly 80 degrees.
Overnight lows were never even close to 70, no wonder I never used my air (except the days they installed the carpet)!

Only used the A/C 3 times due to humidity mostly.
This week has been just about perfect in the northeast, cool nights, warm days, low humidity.
Now if ti would just stay this way till.....oh....next Spring lol.
