Just thought I might as well start one, you can comment on thunderstorms in your're area, or in your state, how many lightning strikes, any photos, or just to say you had one.

So far over Northern New Zealand today there have been 9093 lightning strikes. At its peak there were 74 strikes per min, now down to just 5.

Unfortunantly down here where I live, thunderstorms don't happen too often, but when they do they are often quite severe, have had my room flood on more than one occasion.

Last thunderstorm here in Buxton, Derbyshire was 27th July. Totally pathetic for "summer". In Lincoln of course there has been thunder since then on more than three occasions.

We have frequent thunder storms here. The last major one, produced inches of rain, fires, flooding and lightening strikes to 2 firemen!! I love them, but don't want to see people get hurt, of course!!

We've only had one thunderstorm this summer, which is unusual. I'm sure it is from our cooler than normal weather, not enough humid, moist air.

A contradiction for me because I love a noisy thunderstorm, but don't like hot, humid weather!

We just had an unreal thunderstorm yesterday. It struck at about 5:30pm last night. Extreme wind gusts to 128km/h, severe driving hail that piled up so much that it looked like the whole place was covered in a thick layer of snow, a total winter wonderland, we had lightning every 2-5 seconds....it was madness!!! It was the most intense storm I've ever seen here. Infact, the hail was so thick that even this morning there was still patches left.
I've got some pics of the hail, but probably poor quality due to low light ...but I'll post them tomorrow.

Heavy thunderstorms are a common occurence in Texas, mainly from March to June. The last really bad one we had spawned a tornado in southern Dallas County. It is not unusual to see golfball to grapefruit sized hail and dangerous lightning, plus winds of up to 75mph. It can get pretty exciting.

We get one like that maybe once every summer if we're lucky, but I've missed the last two severe thunderstorms which have struck here

Sounds like a great thunderstorm you had, looking forward to those pics.
