I dunno I think I'd prefer climate 4 to climate 2. -84 is pretty damn cold, and since it is only an average, I don't think -100F is impossible during cold snaps. Forget unpleasant, that is actually life threatening.
Climtae 6 does not exist in NZ. The rainfall seasonal contrast is far too high, and the temperature contrasts are also exaggerated.
Climtae 7 looks fairly pleasant but I'll choose my own version, none of these 8. Besides, only temperature and rainfall are specified.
I know NZ doesn't have a pronounced dry season...
Nonetheless, Wanaka is a pretty close match temp wise, except their summers are cooler, especially the lows. You have to go MUCH further north for average lows in the low 60s...surprisingly.

Rainfall at Wanaka is almost uniform over the year (driest 3-month period has 91% of the rainfall of the wettest 3-month period), and this applies to a large portion of the South Island.
Temperature match is a bit closer but you have exaggerated the seasonal difference. I don't use these antediluvian Fahrenheit scales but the following will give you a better notion of the temperatures there:
Even though January is 20+ degrees colder than either Feb or Dec and August is 15 degrees warmer than July which is really odd....but interesting....lol.
