Florida up north to a place I can't stand now,Tennessee, its cold and dark//grey skies and only 1/2 hour of even seeing the sun!!

I dread the winter...can't afford to move til I sell the house which is dismal in this market.

While FL was too humid, I miss the sun and ocean so badly......what places does everyone love that aren't way hot but don't have these horrible dismal grey days?

I love where I am, blocks from Lake Michigan, but we have more than our share of dreary days, fog, overcast and cloudy, goes with the territory, I happen to like the variety.

Lately every day has been 10 degrees below normal, quite chilly, and I would prefer warmer but the suns out, not rainy or windy so I just wait and see what the next day will bring.

I hate cold too,
but I'd gladly take the cold of Tennessee over the cold of Ontario.

I am from NY originally and went from one extreme to the other...loved the FL gulf coast but I'm not retired, need some stimulation/city life; I guess also as some people get older the cold is not a good thing......I'm only 30 something but I think I need to consider a warmer place....

I'm even younger, 20-something, but have a nerve disorder sensitizing my "extremities" to the cold.
(and even what some people consider "cool" weather. )

I was reading a retirement magazine praising the mountains of North Carolina.

The only complaint in people re-locating there was from Florida residents who couldn't stand the cloudy, foggy days of winter.

One couple said they had to return to Florida in winter to avoid going stark raving mad.

Yes, cloudy weather( especially with fog) gets depressing. ( IMHO)

You just need a summer place and a winter place!! Wouldn't that be great!!

My summer place would be the Oregon Coast and my winter place would probably be Florida!....If only

What about southern CA? Or one of the Carolina's? How about Virginia Beach, Virginia?

I live in CT and love 3 out of the 4 seasons so much that I suffer through winter! Some day I will be a snow bird and head south during the winter (when the kids are grown and we are retired!).

Williamsburg, VA would be it for me someday!
