According the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), “the relatively flat land in the Great Plains allows cold dry polar air from Canada to meet warm moist tropical air from the Gulf of Mexico. A large number of tornadoes form when these two air masses meet, along a phenomenon known as a ‘dryline’” (Questions and Answers about Tornadoes: Climatology, NOAA).

It is too uncertain to make localized predictions. Unfortunately, having to wait until a storm has actually formed leaves often less than thirty minutes to get out a warning.
Is it possible to raise 'artificial heights' in the ways of either cold dry polar air from Canada or warm tropical air from Gulf of Mexico? Obviously 'artificial heights' can not be very high but they may positively interfere the collision of two air masses.? Cost of making versus cost of huge losses of life and property.
There is pretty much nothing feasible that can be done to prevent tornadoes. If you live in an area prone to tornadoes, preparing is probably the best thing you can do. First, you need to know the difference between a tornado watch and a tornado warning. Second, you need to have a sort of "tornado plan" that says what you will do if you hear a tornado warning issued for you whether at work, school, home, in the car, etc. Third, you need to understand how tornadoes kill people and cause damage. It isn't the tornado that kills you, it's the debris it's carrying. These are pretty much the best and only way to minimize your risk (besides not living in tornado alley).
please you do realize that the damage done by blocking the 2 air masses from clashing would be greater than all the severe weather that occurs now right? if u block the clash of the 2 air masses than you would turn the great plains into a drought stricken region that would bankrupt all the farmers in the region as well as the local governments dust bowl anyone?

Exactly. As much as it would be nice to erect some kind of 2 mile high tarp across the Canadian-US border, there's no way for the Plains to have those cold fronts that "activate" the rain. Half the US needs those cold fronts in order for it to rain
Peace be on you. Thanks. How about plantation of high woods or dense jungle on either border or both border, so that air is not fully blocked too. Some change in path etc.
All I mean is to work out, search out some thing feasible.
Good wishes.
What about doing something that will cause storms to burn out before they ever become severe. Like some form of cloud seeding experiment. Or dropping something into them that will thwart their development. All pretty silly of course and unrealistic, really as people said there is nothing that can be done, yet anyway.
Owen could ride in in his dads plane and tell every cloud that pops up that Northern Ireland regularly sees temperatures of -5c in July.
The clouds would immediately disperse.
I'm only half joking btw. I saw a film called 'cloudy with a chance of meatballs', and that was a true story so you never know!
