We've been catching a break compared to other areas. Normal snow totals, colder than normal temps sometimes, not below zero, overnight lows might have below zero windchills.

Right now its 27°F, plenty of places south have colder temps, Tallahassee, FL for one is 19°F.

It will remain below zero through Saturday morning. I still was able to take the trash out in my shorts this morning though....just ran fast !

Question Are we "lucky" here in Toronto?

Aside from our coldest 2-3 days,
since Christmas 2009 we've only been maybe 3-10 F (1-6 C) below seasonal
with barely any snow and not too much wind

There isn't much to fuss about 'round here.
I wonder if it's due to being surrounded by Great Lakes?
(sometimes we get INSANE Arctic blasts anyways, despite the Lakes )

It's extremely cold and it looks like Dan, my neighbor to the north is the only one who has worse temps that I have. Right now it's minus 8 with a windchill of minus 36. Tonight our windchills are supposed to hit minus 40. Can't wait until Sat. afternoon when we have a warmup.

5 with a windchill of -15.

We lucked out as some schools are closed in counties to the west of me and counties south west of me.

We got no snow from that snowfall yesterday that others got. ( don't ndeed more)

Son is heading to the hay auction in Sauk Centre ( I think)

At least he didn't have to plow snow this morning for a hay semi to make up the driveway

Avg high here for today ----------> 65 °F
Avg low here for today -----------> 50 °F

As of 2pm, our temp is a lowly 42 °F, with a windchill around 30 °F!

As mentioned by others, December and January so far have been well below normal. This weekend, we will see our most consecutive freezes since 1989 (3 freezes, starting tonight).

That's unbelievable, the coldest windchill I've ever felt was 5 degrees.

It felt a lot warmer today even though it was still cold, our low was 30 degrees and it felt about 40F during the day, this is pretty much our average high & low.

^^ That's unbelieveable imho, since you live in NYC.
Do you always get to stay indoors whenever it's unusually cold?

I will always have vivid memories of what -20 F windchill feels like, and that happens almost every winter at least once.
In Canada (or at least Ontario) school is never cancelled for cold and rarely cancelled for deep snow.

It actually hasn't been above 40 since Jan 1st in SE Queens. You're just getting used to the cold.

As for me I just stay inside for weeks on end. Pretty soon my winter vacation is going to end and I will have to go back Upstate for school. Why did I think going Upstate was a good idea? 3 more years than heading to law school in Cali hopefully.
