Very happy to have had 3 of the last 4 days brilliantly sunny, with quite mild temperatures for the time of year. First 10 days of the month had warmth spoiled by far too much overcast clag.

Nelson & Ch'ch (and probably others) stated as having the dullest first week of May on record. We were threatening the fortnightly record for a while, but ample sun on 12th, 14th, 16th and y'day improved matters considerably.
Sixth straight day with zero sunshine. Nothing but rain, overcast, and cool temperatures (50s/60s). Looks like it'll be coming to an end this weekend, but it was nice while it lasted.
Edit: Well the sun has peaked through, ruining the streak. But I imagine we'll only record minutes worth of sunshine today.

Wow, it would be VERY unusual or maybe even unique to go that long here in mid-May with no sun at all (even in the record dull winter we just had we at least usually had a 0.1 or a 0.2 in between spells of 2-3 sunless days). When exactly do you get those 1000 extra hours of sun compared to us, lol?

I'm beginning to wonder that myself lol jk. This spring has been unusually cloudy, though we do get spells like this every now and then. This is certainly one of the longer ones. We had a similar spell in late August last year, but I'm not sure if it was as long as this one. Before this current spell, there were eight days of sunshine.
The likelihood of cold, clear days during the winter and reliably sunny summers/early falls must make up for the cloudy spells.

We had 8 such days in 1983, not repeated since then unfortunately
Happy to be waking up to overcast skies once again. I think yesterday had probably an hour or two of recordable sunshine, but it was still generally cloudy. Still expected to remain showery and potentially stormy over the next couple days, though there'll probably be some sunshine mixed in.

It was cloudy and a little breezy during my morning walk. A typical summer morning is clear with no winds, so it was nice to have that breeze keeping conditions bearable.
Cloudy and in the low 60s all day. Cool and refreshing. What a great spring this has been.
