If there's one thing I miss about FL, it's those thunderstorms. I spent two years in Orlando and another 11 in Ft Lauderdale - if it wasn't for the t-storms, I'd never made it that long...lol. Those vids just don't do justice though - like having a lightning strike 50 feet away - BAM! And those screaming winds and terrific downpours...yeehah!
How do you compare it to FL? Sometimes I think that I would like the seasonal variety of Atlanta, but I am deterred by how many totally sunny days it seems to get in the summer.

Yeah, it doesn't compare to the number of storms I got to experience in Florida. I love the seasonality up here, but we're far too dry and sunny in summer, which has been a real letdown to me since moving here in '05. I want my storms, clouds and rain in summer - save that sun for the wintertime when it's good for keeping the heating bill down...lol.

Yep. Tampa is my summer paradise, but I wish the other seasons were about 5F cooler. Perhaps New Orleans is a good compromise?

Not as numerous as FL, but when they do occur they're usually more intense. But I'm comparing it to South FL, Central FL has better storms than South FL. Yes, Atlanta is susceptible to long periods of dry weather in the Summer, one of the things I didn't like about up there.
