Down here, summer isn't June, July, August, it's MAY, June, July, August, and September is always a full month of summer. That's five months of pure, unadulturated summer.

I don't see what the big deal is, summer ends a lot earlier up there than the deep south. When I hear Atlanta I usually think of a cooler refreshing climate. Atlanta's September averages are equivalent to October in Daytona Beach.

We have a record low of 39 F in August. Does not mean August is a cool month by any means.

You should stop comparing summers everywhere else to summers in Florida - Florida is not the benchmark for summer weather. Atlanta is clearly a hot summer climate.
Its basically turned into autumn. 9c and rain everyday now.
I haven't been able to enjoy the late sunsets. I was wanting to go out at 9pm tonight but its rainy again.
I honestly think we are in this pattern for all summer now. When this starts thats always the case.. Especially after a mild winter.
