Since some time in April, almost every day I've checked the temperature we've been at least a little above average, and usually 5+ degrees above. Today is expected to be 7 degrees above average, and I'm betting we go over by more. And with dew points well into the 70s, it's going to be an absolutely miserable weekend. Ah, well, at least I only have about 4 more months of this crap. Did I mention it's been mostly too warm since mid March? So when all is said and done, we'll likely have about 7 months of pretty summer-like weather this year. One month of it is too much for me.

Last Sunday here in Syracuse, NY we had over an inch of well needed rained. Of course as usual, the week that followed was very cold and cloudy. Wednesday was the coldest and gloomiest day in probably the past two months, as it was overcast and we didn't get out of the 50s all day. Keep in mind that the average high is 76 today. My bamboo was growing strong last week....this week it barely even grew at all.

This weekend, the local meteorologists predicted 80s. Well, here it is at 10:30 AM and it is only 62F.

We had a decent rain this morning and of course as usual, it won't be followed by a week in the 80s. Very predicable. I can already forecast the weather better than the meteorologists just because I understand the weather pattern that is rarely broken here. This odd weather pattern has been this way for the past three years. Either rainy and cold..... OR warm and in drought. Almost never warm and rainy. And if it is warm and rainy for a day, it never lasts long. 2005 was the last good growing season for me and that was a year before I even started re-landscaping everything.

Normally, I love an occasional drizzly day where it's coldish, humid and wet all day...but our summer has been cut very short by an extremely long winter...so we need some warm summer days to make up for that. Even though today is great because of the gentle, misty rain, we're missing out on summer. Our summers usually end by the end of August, mid Sept. Mother Nature...cut it out, doggone it!!

It was cool and cloudy here all week too. Even at 11:00 this morning it was still cloudy and in the 60s. This week has been great, but unfortunately this afternoon is warm, humid, and sunny. Blah.

It was supposed to be sunny & 85 today. Most of the time it was cloudy & in the 70's.

The sun came out at the end to only set a few hours later.
