Revision?!

I've slept for a total of 5 hours in 3 days because of my baby girl. I feel sort of drunk and hungover at the same time from a lack of sleep, it's weird.

I think it means 'study' or 'studying'. Interesting use of the word. Here in the US, the word is used to describe 'editing'.

Revision is the same as studying.

I figured it out a while ago, but it's rather confusing to read people say they're "revising". What's being revised? Perhaps the speaker could explain what's being changed.

When people say they're revising, it means the same as when someone says they're studying. They're not actually altering or amending anything. I'm not sure why British English is a massive source of confusion for you, or why you are surprised to learn we apply words differently. The same confusion and surprise certainly don't exist here regarding American English.

I learned that from spending time in England. But for a very long time, I think they were altering or amending something, which left me confused. Took me a bit to remember when I saw posts about "revising".

Not surprised, just one of the more confusing words I've heard, I doubt many Americans would be aware of that usage. I wouldn't expect British posters to not get confused at American usage.
