Like I say in a true winter climate it does not reach 18c in the winter..

Chicago doesn't have a true winter climate, because it can reach 18C?

But that's a incredibly stupid idea. Why does it matter if there one nice mild days if you have to deal with bone chilling cold for several other weeks bone chilling cold in the same month? Would you think "oh I had one 18°C day so it must not real winter even though we've had one and half weeks straight of ice days"? Of course not. That's just moronic. The 14th reached 17-18°C. For rest of the month, it never reached above freezing, bottoming out at -30°C. Is this month not real winter to you?
