Lake Havasu city. I've heard they have "beaches" on the lakeshore, right?

For cities that have real beaches with "best beach weather", I'd say:

Miami
Dubai
Kuwait City
Bahrain
Key West
Broome
Port Headland

Cape Town, South Africa has probably the closest climate I've seen to San Diego, statistically at least.

Barcelona is about 10 degrees cooler than SD in Dec and Jan but otherwise pretty close the rest of the year. It is one of my favorite cities in the world and actually the weather there has reminded me of San Diego...warm in the sun and just slightly too cool in the shade.

LHC is extremely hot and dry, often the hottest part of Arizona. Their "beaches" are pathetic, often crowded with drunk Californians, etc. There have also been brain-eating parasites in the water, causing a fatality last year. I guess the bacteria thrives in warm waters, which LHC has plenty of. If you like nice, wide beaches with soft sand, stay far away from LHC. If you like a party-hardy atmoshphere with searing heat, you might like LHC.

^^ but their climate is the best in the U.S. I guess the reason why everyone is happy and has fun there is because it is actually warm enough to be comfortable in the summer and even in winter). I drunk most of the time so I guess I'd fit right in with those drunken Californians
